Episode Summary:
Our world is so fast-paced and noisy these days, it seems almost impossible to be in control of our lives as working parents. Many people just believe BALANCE is an impossible ideal, so they don't even try to work toward it anymore. They just put their head down and work harder and faster to get through the day. And a record number of people are suffering from burnout, anxiety and depression as a result.
Just about everyone I talk to has a different combination of struggles as working parents, but here are some of the most common ones:
If you listened to my episode a couple of weeks ago about what's changing in 2018 (WPR043), you know I'm focusing even more this year on helping parents become more deliberate in all areas of their lives. I truly believe that until we learn how to reclaim control of our lives, to tune out all of the distractions, to reframe our expectations of ourselves, and focus on what's actually most important to us, we're going to continue to struggle with all of the issues I just listed, no matter how many time management books come out or videos you watch about marriage tips or articles you read about disciplining your child. All of those issues can be improved, if not resolved, by becoming more intentional and selective about what gets your attention in your everyday life. And there are some specific things that will make that possible for all of us.
I also mentioned in WPR043 that I'll be doing a challenge this year to help people finally become more deliberate in 12 different areas of their lives. And that's what I wanted to talk about a little bit today. The Deliberate Life Challenge, is my way of helping working parents simplify their lives and become more intentional so they can finally overcome the overwhelm and struggle. If you haven't already signed up, you can go to DeliberateLifeChallenge.com to make sure you're notified about everything that's happening.
