Episode Summary:

Today we’re chatting with Tara McMullin, who is a podcaster, writer, and small business community leader. With over a decade of experience helping thousands of small business owners grow their businesses, she’s on a mission to change the dialogue about what’s really working from hype to candid conversation.

She’s the host of the What Works podcast, a top small business podcast that’s been recommended by Forbes and Entrepreneur, as well as the founder of The What Works Network, a community hub for small business owners. Her work has been featured on Fast Company, Inc, Daily Worth, and The Huffington Post.

What I love most about Tara’s approach is that she’s not peddling the same old advice for every business owner out there. She really honors the unique nature of what everyone is trying to build, and sees herself as a facilitator in helping people uncover what’s unique about themselves, rather than trying to teach how to be just like everyone else. She really inspired me early on in my business experience, and for that I’m so grateful.

I wanted to bring Tara on the show to highlight the shift she made from being a “guru” in business, to being someone who really empowered others to look within themselves for answers as they build a business and a life that really works for them.

The lessons Tara shares in the episode are geared toward entrepreneurs since that’s the group she focuses on helping most, but as our global economy shifts, I really think all companies can learn from the environment she’s cultivating not only in her business, but in her family, and in her life as well. I just really like the culture she’s building in everything she does, and I’m excited to share that with you all.
