Episode Summary:

Today I’m talking to all of you over-achievers out there.  You know who you are.  You’re not just ambitious, you take ambition to a whole new level.  You’re the one who can handle everything.  You’re the person everyone comes to when they have a problem or need something or aren’t sure what to do.  You’re the problem solver. You GET THINGS DONE and you get a lot of confidence from that.

But as most of you know, there can be a downside to being an overachiever that many of us don’t really talk about.  It can be stressful.  It can be draining.  We can very easily push ourselves beyond our limits and we’re highly susceptible to burnout as a result.

And after we have kids, being an overachiever can get tricky really fast.  So today I’m going to be talking about how to manage your inner-overachiever so you can find some peace in your life.  I don’t necessarily think you need to abandon that inner-drive you have.  But I do think there’s a way to manage it so it doesn’t drive you to unhealthy levels of stress and burnout.  And that's what we'll talk about today.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

  • The main distinctions between a “High Achiever” and an “Overachiever” and how I have learned to identify the difference in my everyday life.
  • What I got out of being an overachiever. What motivated me to continue working beyond my limits, and the reasons why it took me so long to realize how much stress and anxiety my high standards were creating in my life.
  • How I finally let go of being an “Overachiever” and was able to harness my inner-drive in a healthier way while increasing my energy and results.
  • How you can build check-points into your life so you can avoid falling into your natural tendency to push yourself too far.
